Sometimes people experience migraines because of certain triggers such as some foods e.g. chocolate, caffeine, dairy, nuts, alcohol and MSG.
A high level of stress or an environment that induces stress may cause you to experience migraines. Birth control pills, vasodilators, smoking and skipping meals may cause you to get a migraine as well. Hormonal changes in women can also be the reason behind a migraine. The Higher level of estrogen in the blood can be the onset reason of a migraine. Women with the history with a migraine may also seem to get migraine attacks around their period cycle. There are certain food additives and food that can also facilitate and trigger a migraine. Such food additives might include sweetener aspartame and food preservatives. There are certain environmental factors that can induce a migraine e.g; the high beam of light, strong smell and loud noises.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT FOR MIGRAINE?

TREATMENT FOR MIGRAINE:

Migraine Medication prescribed is normally for the treatment of both symptoms and the attack. Such medication also inhibits the further induction of the migraine attack. These medications are classified into two classes

  1. Pain-relieving medications: Medication used for the purpose to reduce pain.
  2. Preventive medications:  Medication to prevent the victim from further attacks

Pain relievers:

  • Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen are prescribed because they help in relieving mild migraines. Combination of acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine is also used to get rid of the pain.
  • Ergotamine with the combination of caffeine drugs is effective for a migraine which lasts for more than 48 hours. Dihydroergotamine is an ergotamine derivative and it is now normally used as it has fewer side effects.
  • Triptans directly restrict the pain by constricting blood vessels and also treat the symptoms of the migraine.  Side effects of triptans involve reactions at the injection section, vomiting, dizziness, sleepiness and muscle weakness.
  • Glucocorticoids are combined with other drugs to increasi=e the pain relieving property of the medicine

Preventive medications:
