Arthritis Types (list) & Definition

Arthritis Types (list) & Definition: A medical issue of having inflamed joints is known as Arthritis. Inflammation in joints can be very problematic if left untreated. A joint is a point where two bones are connected with each other. Joints facilitate the body parts to move and bend, easily. Inflammation can cause swelling, hardness and pain in joints. The disease can very seriously and can entirely impair the movement of the joint.

Types of Arthritis:

over 200 types of Arthritis has been identified,  each having different symptoms and treatments. Few of them are mentioned below:

Rheumatoid arthritis: 

what is rheumatoid arthritis? An autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system starts attacking healthy joint tissues of the body and starts destroying them. It is more common in women than men. Normally, it attacks similar area on both sides of the body, for example, if it has attacked left elbow then right elbow will soon be affected by rheumatoid arthritis. RA can also attack heart, eyes and lungs as well.

Osteoarthritis:

What is Osteoarthritis? It is the most common type of arthritis found in people. It causes cartilage present between joints to deteriorate thus causing both the joints to rub directly upon each other. This rubbing causes the swelling around joint area. It hurts and the movement of joint gets impaired as well. It can be arthritis in knees, arthritis in hand and even arthritis in the neck.

Osteoporosis: 

What is Osteoporosis? Bone tissues are replaced every now and then to keep bones healthy and strong. osteoporosis is a disease in which the bone tissues start to break down more rapidly than they can be recovered or the recovery procedure gets very slow. This issue starts making bones weak as there are not enough tissues to make bones strong. This frequently results in the breakage of bones thus making it a very severe problem. Normally this disease doesn’t show any particular symptoms, it expands silently. It’s mandatory for everyone to keep the calcium intake stable so that the bones can get stronger.

Rheumatoid arthritis

Psoriatic Arthritis:

 What is Psoriatic Arthritis? Like RA, it is also an autoimmune disorder which attacks healthy tissues and bones of the body. There’s a difference between Psoriatic Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis that Psoriatic Arthritis starts in the form of a mild problem which is known as “psoriasis“. Psoriasis is a skin disease itchy and scaly skin along with disintegrated nails, the disease eventually grows into Psoriatic arthritis further attacking joints and healthy tissues of body

Back Pain:

Arthritis and many other issues combined can cause serious back pain. the pain can be dues to either due to affected bones or muscles. lower back is most likely to be the victim of arthritis. Arthritis in the back can be very painful and can interrupt daily life activities easily. The patient can suffer from swelling and muscle stiffness causing difficulty while sitting and walking.

Juvenile Arthritis:

What is Juvenile Arthritis? Juvenile Arthritis targets children and is also know as Pediatric Rheumatic Disease. It can either be caused by autoimmune issues or inflammatory condition in the body of a child. The disease normally affects musculoskeletal system, skin, muscles and gastrointestinal tract rather than joints. Redness, stiffness, swelling and pain are common symptoms in the affected area of the body. The treatment has not yet been found so the doctors normally prescribe medication to treat symptoms and reduce pain. Healthy activities and food can help the patient in feeling better.

 

 

Spondyloarthritis:

 What is Spondyloarthritis? The disease is collectively known for inflammatory problems in the body. Inflammation normally occurs in the gastrointestinal tract, different joints along with joints and ligaments which connect the joints. The disease is classified into axial form and peripheral form.  The axial form means mostly the pelvic joints and spine is attacked while the other one targets limbs. Latest researches have discovered that HLA-B27 gene might be actively participating in developing the disease yet it can not be said that the gene is causing it.

Gout: 

What is Gout? People having higher levels of uric acid in blood develop an inflammatory disease known as Gout. Uric Acid turns into the crystal like needles and resides between joints where it causes pain, swelling and tenderness. There are four stages of Gout from the very basic to acute and finally turns into a severe form. (mentioned below)

  1. Asymptomatic hyperuricemia
  2. Acute gout, or a gout attack
  3. Interval gout
  4. Chronic gout
